This manual describes how to install Oracle Database 12cR1 (12.1.0 )
Prereq
- Installation of Oracle Enterprise Linux
Software
The necessary software can be downloaded by clicking on the link below.
Display
If you do not work directly from the console, you can start a terminal session to the server.
On the server, the display must be exported to the machine from where you will perform the installation.

VMware tools
In this installation we are using a virtual host. From the VMware vSphere client mount the VMWaretool iso file to the cd-rom player on the specific virtual host. When you are using a physical machine this step can be skipped.

Configure Repository
Configure the connection for the oracle yum-repository.

Set enabled to 1 for 64bit systems.

Installation packages
After you have configured the repository the ‘oracle-validated’ package can be downloaded. This package contains all the settings and software you will need to install Oracle related products.

Add user and groups
Add user(s) and group(s) that will be used for the installation.

Create directory’s
Create the directories in which the Oracle software will be installed.

Kernel parameters
Use the kernel settings as described below for a succesful Oracle software installation.

Limits.conf
Add the following below in the limits.conf file.

Login file
Add the line below in the login file, it will probably already exists.

Config selinux
Set secure Linux to permissive by editing the “/etc/selinux/config” file.

Once the change is complete, restart the server or run the following command.

Environment variables
In the .bash_profile file in the home directory of the oracle user, set the path references so that they are automatically set when the user oracle logs in.

Unpacking software
Go to the correct directory where the installation files are found and unpack it using unzip.

There should now be a directory ‘database’ where you can find the installation files.

If no email is required on security related findings uncheck on ” I wish to … . ‘Away , and then click Next.
Click Yes.
When you not use “automatic ” updates select ‘ Skip Updates, then click Next.
Select ‘ Create and configure a database , and then click Next.
Select “Server class and then click Next.
Select Single instance database installation , and then click Next.
Select Typicall install ‘ and then click Next.
Fill in the appropriate directories , specify a database name and password for the database.
Then click Next.
Specify the location of the oraInventory , then click Next
It is verified that the area meets the requirements for installing Oracle Database 12.1.0 .
If everything is successful then you click Next.
An overview is shown of the installation settings. Check it, and then click Next.
The installation of Oracle Database 12.1.0 is performed.
At the end of the installation process you are asked to execute ‘ orainstRoot.sh “and” root.sh ” It must be run under the user root

This will create a database .
Once the database is created ithere is a summary of information off this database.
Then click OK to exit the screen
Click Close to exit the installation of Oracle Database 12.1.0 .
The installation of Oracle Database 12cR1 been completed.
Login with the user SYS and the password to log into the Enterprise Manager 12c
